We consistently heard that members were frustrated with their waste management.  Too many missed pick ups (without explanation, with penalty charges), excess weight charges occasionally doubling the pick up charges, and exorbitant bin hire fees.

We went to market for a waste management provider for the Melbourne manufacturing hubs, inviting the large and medium sized players to bid for this work.  We ran a tender over three rounds.  In the end, the major providers dropped out: their pricing wasn’t competitive, their service was too inflexible and they were difficult to deal with.
